A full day spent with a customer at the home comfort dealership

My day started off with an installation at one of the biggest commercial buildings in town.

  • I then headed to a school downtown, where we ran a comprehensive HVAC tune-up on the natural gas furnace.

The students were so glad to get the warmth back after a few days of braving the frigid classrooms, and upon getting back into the office, my manager suggested that I take a customer shopping for a new HVAC system and temperature control for her new house. The lady had a ductless HVAC before that had since broken down and she needed it upgraded as quickly as possible. I would supply her to the dealer center to have a look at the unusual heat and A/C products and help her select the best model for her home. Small talk with the customer revealed that the customer was a novice on all things high quality HVAC equipment. She was, however, more upset about the price range and this would influence her decision. She had been careful to observe all the advice given her by the HVAC company on maintaining the system. The HVAC supplier that did the installation had since moved to a new state. As we moved around unusual new home comfort businesses, at some point, I realized that my customer wasn’t with me. I evaluated the numerous folks around us and found her at a commercial HVAC provider store. I asked her if she realized that we were at a commercial shop and she said she was there because of the “commercial HVAC on sale” sign in the front. She thought that all systems could help with indoor comfort and yes all systems do, however, not every system can be installed in a home. After explaining the difference, the provider offered us a residential system with a deep discount and upgraded the dial temperature control.
