Changing up workouts for muscle confusion

Any type of exercise you do is beneficial.

However, if continued over a prolonged period of time, the body grows accustomed to it.

I love to go for a run. It is easy to improve stamina through running. My body adapts to running and is efficient at the motions. I am able to run long distances at a fairly quick pace without much effort. I like that when I run, I can listen to music and think about whatever. I don’t need to be mentally focused on what I’m doing. It is also a great sight seeing opportunity. I can easily lose weight through running but then I tend to hit a plateau. If I only run everyday for a workout, my body gets familiar with it and then maintains a shape. The body I get in when I run is something I’m OK with, but not my ultimate goal. I have to encourage myself to include other styles of workouts into my fitness regiment. I only allow myself to run for a workout approximately two mornings per week. I can’t just put on my headphones and zone out. One day, I focus on sprints up and down the hill near my house. The next day, I might run for the greatest distance. Another running day is focused on speed around the school track. The off days, I do yoga, weightlifting or sometimes head to the local gym and take a spin or pilates class. Whenever I do something out of the norm, my body gets challenged. When I am sore, I know I did something right. That proves I’m using muscles that have been neglected.
