Getting some residential HVAC off the grid

I also have satellite wifi in order to be able to do my work from my home

I’ll never forget the look on my mother’s face when I told her that I was planning to move way out in the woods. That was bad enough to her but when I told her I was planning to live self sufficiently and off the grid, she nearly fell over. This is a lady who can’t even move from the central air conditioning in her house from June through September. So she just couldn’t fathom what I was getting myself into and promptly tried to talk me out of it. Well, this sort of undertaking isn’t something that one just haphazardly just goes and does. It took years of saving, planning and then executing a plan in order to make my dream come true. But when my mom first came out to my home, she was amazed. Of course, this was only after I added some residential HVAC. For the first couple of years, I had only had a big wood stove for heating. But frankly, the summer could benefit from a bit of HVAC cooling. So I paid a bit extra to have an HVAC professional come to install a pair of ductless heat pumps inside my cabin. And they are glorious. When my mom walked into all that air conditioning, she changed her tune just about immediately. My home is powered by a solar array so I don’t need any sort of utility. Of course, I have a great garden and some small livestock. I also have satellite wifi in order to be able to do my work from my home. My situation got the mother seal of approval.
