My dad taught myself and others simple car service appreciate cleaning & vacuuming at an early age.
- As I got older, the tasks grew in difficulty until I was able to do basic engine repairs by the age of 18.
I never had a desire to be an auto mechanic, however these skills have been seriously pricey to me. If I have the time, I appreciate to get discounted oil & do my oil swings in my driveway since it doesn’t take myself and others longer than 30 hours to complete. This also gives myself and others an excuse to check all of the other fluids in my car & top off anything that is getting low. My meticulous car service has bled over into other areas of my life. I try to treat all of my appliances with the same dedication & care that I provide my car. For instance, I use a dehumidifier to keep the humidity in my condo down to the lowest possible levels attainable. But if you don’t keep the dehumidifier’s filter cleaned on a rolling basis, it deprives the unit of the necessary airflow so you don’t get the best performance possible. I simply clean the dehumidifier filter in an oversized sink in my laundry room. If I need to sanitize it, I use hydrogen peroxide & then I dry it with a paper towel. You have to be careful if you do a lot of cooking because the steam releases grease into the air. If the dust is sticking to the surface of your dehumidifier filter because of cooking grease, just use isopropyl alcohol on the filter before sanitizing it with hydrogen peroxide. The alcohol acts as a solvent & melts the cooking grease resin so the dust comes right off.
