My mother and father passed away while I was young, leaving myself and others to be raised by my Grandparents.
They taught myself and others to be as self-sufficient as humanly possible, this is in section because they feared a possible future where they both died before I reached 18. Compared to my friends growing up, I knew how to take care of myself. I made my lunches everyday for school and rode my bike from my Grandparents beach house to our school’s campus. My Grandfather taught myself and others how to use tools and do lake beach house service at a young age. It was my job to update light bulbs, wash windows, swap-out a/c filters, and water the plants outside until I was outdated enough to be trusted with other tasks. My Grandfather was a handyman for years, however before doing handyman labor for older folks he was a specialist at a now-defunct heating and cooling company. He said that the job paid well however it was physically demanding. He had to retire before the job destroyed his back completely. Because of his experience with a/cs and furnaces, he showed myself and others what happens if I don’t keep my Heating & A/C device took care of and took care of on a proper basis. I owe him for being smart with my heating and cooling equipment, because every year I get my a/c took care of before the start of the Summer cooling season. Too many people wait for a/c service until it’s in high demand and the heating and cooling companies are already overrun with service appointments, repairs, and replacements. You don’t want to be left waiting for more than a month if something happens to your cooling system.
