Last winter, I felt so crowded in my apartment.
Though I liked living and working in the city, I couldn’t wait to get some time off.
My family owned a lake house which was the best place to spend some time away. After some crazy projects at work with exhausting deadlines, I felt I needed to go to the lake house. However, that was tough to do in the middle of winter, so I had to wait. Finally, there were signs of spring everywhere, and I requested some time off. My employer is quite understanding and granted me my two-week request provided I completed my work. It took some time to get everything done and make sure the client was happy before I left. The lake house was great, but the area was pretty cold, so I had to rely on the heating unit to stay warm. Some days I’d even turn on the heating unit during the day when the weather wasn’t as nice. Still, I’d rather spend time with the AC unit warming the lake house than be in the city. The more I stayed there enjoying the environment and the air conditioner, the more I didn’t want to leave. Finally, I emailed my employer requesting a work-from-home position. I heard back from him saying that was possible provided I went in when needed. I ended up calling an HVAC technician to the lake house to service the unit since I would be spending lots of time at the lake house. The HVAC technician informed me the heating unit was in good condition but would require regular maintenance. Doing so was better to prevent any AC emergencies since the area was quite remote.
