Living in an area that experiences especially long and severe winter weather, the furnace is a priority.
To handle temperatures down to twenty below zero, it was necessary to choose a very powerful heating system.
It needs to be capable of keeping the whole house completely comfortable for more than half the year. It’s important that the furnace operates reliably, efficiently and at full capacity. I can’t risk having the heater fail during the worst winter weather. There are times when scheduling furnace repair is all but impossible. In blizzard conditions, the roads are dangerous and there are often driving bans. Technicians are reluctant to provide service. My family certainly can’t go without heat. To make absolutely certain the furnace is running at its best, I have enrolled in a maintenance plan with a local HVAC company. They call and remind me when it’s time to schedule upkeep in the fall. A licensed technician comes to the house and completes a long list of maintenance tasks. He troubleshoots for any worn or broken parts, tightens electrical connections, inspects the heat exchanger, cleans the inner workings and lubricates moving parts. He tests the ductwork and the accuracy of the thermostat and also replaces the air filter. This thorough service fulfills the requirements of the manufacturer’s warranty. It also gives me peace of mind. There is far less chance of problems or safety risks. The furnace should last longer and definitely costs less to run. Plus, my family benefits from superior comfort and air quality.
