Where we live, the Winter time is something that you have to prepare for. The fact that we live a ways out of any city make that preparation even more important. So I don’t delay when it comes to start our Winter time preparations. Actually, I start out in the Summer assume it or not. The Winter time stretches out to almost 6 months here so Summer is a time to relax a bit. Still, I start our Winter time prep in the early months of Summer by taking out dead or fallen trees for firewood. Since we live out of town, it can be strenuous to get to us if there was a power outage or something went wrong with the gas heating system. That makes having a back up heating plan an absolute must. Every one of us have a wood stove that acts as both a back up plus a thirdary source of heating. But a wood stove takes a lot of firewood so I start in the summer. By fall I appreciate to have the wood all split plus split plus ready for stacking. Getting this done early allows myself and others to focus on making sure our condo is ready for the winter. There are things that have to be winterized plus of course, I make sure that the condo is legitimately sealed up tight as well.
