Some folks find it really weird when they see where and how I live when they know what I come from.
And even I, from time to time, get hit with a bit of shock given what I have access to.
But for me, it’s not the possessions or the bank accounts that matter. It’s living simply and being happy. So my cabin with the ductless heat pumps are really quite fancy to me. But having grown up with a great deal of wealth, I know that there is a whole other side to life. The house I grew up in had the latest in HVAC technology for the times. And it was always just perfectly air conditioned in that house. My mother would have had it no other way given her aversion to perspiration. That place was a total palace. I could probably live on just what they paid in heating and cooling costs. By the time I got to college, I simply rejected all that stuff. It’s fine for some but was totally empty to me. I’m a potter by training and trade. I have a small studio on my property and drive into town to a gallery and I sell online as well. But I’m way out in the woods doing my thing. The cabin didn’t even have electricity when I first built it. The only heating I got was from the wood stove. So having the ductless heat pumps are really great. And I love having a touch of air conditioning on hot summer nights to sleep. So even all the way out here in the boonies, I’m still getting plenty of HVAC technology and comfort.
