I have a roommate & zero privacy, then when I need to study, sometimes I go to a hotel for the night. There are a couple of local hotels that will deliver you a break on the rate if you show them your student identification card. I usually stay at the Best Western right by the campus for $40 a night. Their beds are pretty comfortable & the walls are thick. It’s the only site in the neighborhood where I cannot hear the person on the other side of the wall. The sound barrier in this hotel is far better than the sound barrier in my own apartment. I often have to listen to the neighbors arguing or having intercourse, and either way it’s nothing that I want to listen to when I have to prepare for an exam. I went to a hotel a few weeks ago when I had a crucial exam for my psych 101 class. My roommate had her boyfriend there all weekend & I couldn’t get anything done. I used all my currency to rent the room. I turned on the a/c right away. It was actually stuffy in the hotel room & I wanted to be able to relax. The a/c made a bizarre sound when I turned it on, but chilly air started to come out of the air vents, so I didn’t consider the noise until it happened once more. This time there was a puff of dust & smoke that came out of the a/c & then the entire unit shut off. Clearly the hotel a/c was broken. I had to transfer to a different room or wait for a service tech to service the unit.
