It’s undoubtedly not at all like most people think.
- And the way I live isn’t all that terribly particular either.
There’s a whole segment of people who are living sustainably off the grid. I guess it’s just a precursor of how we’re going to have to live on this planet if all of us want to survive as a species. But it undoubtedly doesn’t have to be as cataclysmic as it seems. For instance, in my case I have residential air conditioning living off the grid. I don’t spend money any kind of HVAC cooling bills in the summer. And I have a wood stove that provides my heating in the winter. But I like my residential HVAC plus I need it in the summertime. But I use my ductless heat pump responsibly as I don’t waste energy. My beach beach house is completely sustainable. I have a solar array which provides myself and others with all the electricity I can use. Of course that doesn’t mean I have all the electric gadgets that most homes have. But I would not want them anyway. But I can like some new HVAC technology. It seems our culture has convinced itself that all of us have to be consuming more than all of us need all the time. That will be our undoing if not corrected. I like my life plus it’s legitimately straight-forward. But I still get to like new conveniences like residential HVAC. I undoubtedly hope that our culture can shift away from all this selfish waste in order to use reUnited Statesble energy to power the lives all of us live. I don’t guess I’ll see that change in my lifetime however it’s undoubtedly the only way forward.
