When I just bought my new home I did not want to go with central heating.
- I was ok with central air conditioning, but when it came to the heating, I wanted to do something different.
I did not want to invest thousands of dollars into radiant heated floors and have the entire house reconstructed since I have lovely carpeting. However, I was down to either getting a hot water boiler or a gas furnace. The choice was so hard though! They were both going to cost me around the same price, and in terms of energy savings, they were also both about the same. What I had to think about was what would require the less amount of heating and air conditioning company maintenance. And after thinking about it for a little while, I decided that the hot water boiler was going to be the winner in this ongoing mental battle I was having on which heating device to pick. The hot water boiler will not require me to have seasonal tune ups and check ups, and I just have to personally maintain it and keep an eye on it every single month. Which is easy for me to do. I would much rather do that than to have to call the local heating and air conditioning company every single season for them to send out one of their most certified and professional heating and air conditioning specialists to tune up and check up a gas furnace. That would also save me hundreds of dollars not having to do that. So the hot water boiler it is for my new heater!
