Regular maintenance and upkeep is so important for a house.
I don’t even care what house we are talking about, if you own a house, you better keep up with regular services or it will come back and bite you in the butt.
When I first moved into this place, everything was as close to perfect as I could have asked for. Over the next few months if something went a little wrong, I would handle it myself and not worry about it. Those little problems can accumulate, though, and that is what happened with my HVAC system. It turns out that just checking the air filter is not enough for long term care. It’s good to check the air filter, of course, and change it out when it gets dirty, but that is just the simplest and first step of HVAC care. I thought that was all I needed to do, and the smart thermostat would tell me if anything went wrong. It also turns out that my digital thermostat is not smart, just a regular all control device with a fancy screen on it. When I finally got around to realizing the error of my ways, I paid the service call fee for a local HVAC tech to come inspect my system for me. For the most part, my air conditioner was still fully charged and working well, but the guy did recommend a tune up. I decided that having an annual HVAC service check up was a smart idea, and plan to do it again in a few months.
