My wife is obsessed with burning candles.
Whenever there’s a birthday or holiday coming up, she always asks for candles. Even if I save & buy her a nice piece of jewelry as a gift, she still expects a candle every year regardless. I don’t begrudge her of this wish, especially since often these candles stink honestly amazing. Sometimes I go to a special candle store in the mall that is owned by a family. They make all of their inventory at home & also sell their products online & their store in the mall. They’re more extravagant than normal candles at department stores, but the quality is incomparable. Especially since a lot of traditional store bought candles are full of chemicals & parabens. The natural homemade candles lack all of these dangerous adulterants. The concern with my wife’s candle burning habit is the layer of soot that is left all over the house. Sometimes it gets on the walls, shelves, & other surfaces exposed to their Heating and Air Conditioning air current. Inevitably this means that it collects inside the heating & cooling system as well. Aside from getting into the inside surfaces of your ductwork, the candle soot can also accumulate on the rare evaporator coil inside your cooling system’s air handler. This is the 1 issue I can’t seem to shake in my mind when I go to the store to get my wife more candles to burn. I don’t want to shorten the lifetime of our Heating and Air Conditioning system, but both my wife & I care about the candles so much that it would be hard to stop.
