Connecting a new air conditioner to an old ventilation system

My parents are still living in the lake house they raised myself and others plus my siblings in.

It was built in the 1930s plus has seen a lot of changes plus improvements over time. A hour story was added above the garage when I was in kindergarten, giving us youngsters our own bedrooms for the first time ever. It was basically an extension of the existing hour floor, so you could really access it by simply walking down the hallway after coming up the stairs. They also added storm windows in the early 1990s because of the Winter time draftiness with the old ones. Although the color of the lake house consistently stayed the same, the exterior was carefully filled in with plants, flowers, plus foliage over the years. It is a great locale to visit, even to this afternoon. However, my parents are having some problems right now with their old air conditioner. It’s already 25 years old plus they need a new system, however the heating plus cooling contractor claims the ductwork is insufficiently designed plus laid out. Metal ductwork has to be strategically designed if you want every room to be the same temperature as the other. If there are different bends that restrict air flow, you will inevitably have rooms that are chilly plus some that are hot. Instead of paying an exorbitant amount of money for a newly designed metal ventilation system, the HVAC contractor recommended getting plastic flex-duct. It looks like giant tubing with foil insulation wrapping the surface, plus it can be angled in whatever way the HVAC professional sees fit.
