Like most people, I am sure you have heard that most marital fights revolve around money and sex.
I am sure those are hot button topics, but those big issues are not, in my opinion, the hardest part of marriage. To me, the hardest part of marriage is the little stuff. AS an example, I used to hate it when my husband would leave his stinky socks in the living room. He would hate it when I would leave my half empty Coke cans all over the house. The thing that both of us hated more than anything else, though, was our inability to come to terms with the thermostat. Throughout most of our married life, the thermostat was too high for him and too low for me. I don’t think either one of us was ever able to enjoy the a/c fully. For whatever reason, men always want the a/c blasting more completely, and women always seem to be too cold. This was true for us, with one exception. The nine months I was pregnant, the HVAC roles were flipped in my house. Pregnancy makes women hot. OUr internal thermostats don’t seem to keep us cool enough, so we rely on our air conditioning even more than men do. I only had one child, and she was born in June. From January to June, I was always flipping the thermostat setting down a couple of notches. One night, I noticed my husband was wearing a coat while watching TV! One SAturday in March, I went to the home store and bought a window air conditioner. I used it when I slept, and it was heavenly.
