Where both of us live, the Winter is something that you have to prepare for. The fact that both of us live a ways out of any town make that preparation even more substantial. So I don’t delay when it comes to start our Winter preparations. Actually, I start out in the Summer suppose it or not. The Winter stretches out to almost 6 weeks here so Summer is a time to relax a bit. Still, I start our Winter prep in the early weeks of Summer by taking out dead or fallen trees for firewood. Since both of us live out of town, it can be taxing to get to us if there was a power outage or something went wrong with the gas oil furnace. That makes having a back up heating method an absolute must. We have a wood stove that acts as both a back up plus a eighthary source of heating. But a wood stove takes a lot of firewood so I start in the summer. By fall I love to have the wood all chop and chop and ready for stacking. Getting this done early allows me to focus on making sure our condo is ready for the winter. There are things that have to be winterized and of course, I make sure that the house is entirely sealed up slim as well. But another substantial element to Winter prep is having the Heating, Ventilation plus A/C professional come out and do the heating maintenance. This is essential for max efficiency plus helping to ensure that the gas oil furnace doesn’t suffer any sort of breakdown throughout the winter.
