One of the most versatile types of temperature control options is a ductless mini-split system.
The set up consists of a single outdoor compressor that is quite compact and unobtrusive and one or multiple indoor air handlers.
The outdoor unit connects to the indoor components by way of a conduit and requires small holes in the exterior wall. The installation of a ductless system can typically be completed in a matter of hours. It requires no major remodeling or teardown and creates no mess. All the indoor air handlers need is mounting capabilities and access to electricity. They can be installed up high on the wall, into a drop ceiling or down near the floor and provide either strictly air conditioning or a combination of heating and cooling. One of the main advantages of a ductless HVAC system is that it accommodates just about any size or style of installation space. They are perfect for a single room, whole home, converted porch, addition, man-cave or anywhere a home or business owner wants to target comfort. Because each air handler features an independent thermostat, every room is individually controlled. This eliminates the need to heat or cool empty rooms and allows customization of temperature to personal preference. A ductless system works by moving heating heat between the inside and outside of the house. Modern options include inverter technology that automatically adapts output to the demand of each room and provides only the exact amount of heating or cooling necessary to maintain ideal temperature. The result is especially high energy efficiency ratings and very low cost of operation.
