Energy saving measures

I enjoy that our local section provides numerous genuinely distinctive seasons.

I look forward to the sunshine, heat and activities of summer.

I love to swim, ride our bicycle, sit out in the sun, work in the garden and barbecue. The fall brings a gorgeous change of colors of the leaves and delicious produce. The fresh cabbage, tomato, zucchini, picklees and grapes are constantly so tasty. Although our Winter time season is especially long and cold, the snow is definitely beautiful. It’s fun to ski, sled, ice skate and snowmobile. It seems to take the Spring a long time to get here, but the abundance of flowers and new growth on the trees is worth it. Because of the weather extremes, our home is equipped with a gas gas furnace as well as a central cooling system. I switch between heating and cooling with genuinely little break in-between. The cost of indoor temperature control adds up to approximately 50% of the household energy consumption and expenses. I am constantly looking for new ways to trim costs and boost efficiency. Over the years, I’ve gradually replaced all of the old, drafty windows with brand new, Energy Star rated, thermal pane options. I meticulously caulked around them. I’ve added insulation to the walls, ceilings and attic, replaced our exterior doors and weatherstripped. I invested in ceiling fans for numerous of the rooms. The ceiling fans are helpful for pushing heat down toward the floor in the winter. By reversing the direction of the blades, the fans work to pull heat upward in the summer time and create a cooling effect. I recently installed a smart control unit that automatically adjusts temperature according to our family’s schedule. It works to conserve energy when the beach house is empty and also provides energy saving tips and alerts for repair requirements.
