My house has those old fashioned radiators for heat.
They connect to a boiler that is in the basement through pipes, then you can turn each radiator on or off by turning a knob.
It is entirely similar to the way you would turn a water faucet on or off. I know this genre of radiator is ancient! Very few people use them anymore. However, these radiators came with the house and they toil great. If it’s not broke, don’t maintenance it. That is my motto, and but recently my child got a pet hedgehog… She researched the pet a lot and I finally agreed to let her have one. They are easily high maintenance pets and not for everybody. Still, she is a responsible young lady and is doing wonderful so far. But on Friday night she yelled for me to come suddenly. She said her hedgehog was stuck. I ran up the stairs and found that the hedgehog was between the radiator and the wall. The critter had gotten behind there and had taken a nap. He then put his spikes up and wouldn’t let himself be rescued! My child had already turned the radiator off however it was still incredibly hot. I tried to push and prod the little hedgehog out although he wouldn’t bud. Finally, I grabbed a glass of water and dumped it on him with the hopes of cooling him down before he was baked to death. The water worked to get him moving too so my wonderful friend and I were able to rescue him. I believe my wonderful friend and I are going to have to put up some sort of wire mesh to keep the hedgehog from going behind the radiator every again. Thankfully he is ok.
