Sometimes my high school classmates and coworkers make me really depressed.
I don’t know what happened, but it seems like there recently have been a lot of major back slides among folks of my similar age group. To be fair, we are at that age when people normally have midlife crises. I guess that I can understand how it happens. One day you wake up at 50 years old and realize that you have spent your life trying to earn a paycheck, but everything about it makes you unhappy. Luckily for me, I don’t feel this way, thanks to my HVAC shop. I went into an industry that I actually care about when I graduated high school. As a professional heating, cooling, and ventilation technician I was never unhappy on the job. I never once had to wonder about my next paycheck because I was always very steadily compensated for my furnace and AC unit expertise. I had a lot of knowledge in the heating, cooling, and ventilation field. Then, I decided to open my own HVAC repair shop about ten years ago. Instead of being a heating and cooling technician, I boss them around. This means I’m constantly learning new skills as a heating and cooling business owner, instead of feeling stagnant in life. I also never have to doubt the impact that I make, because I can hear about the relief that my clients feel after their heating, cooling, and ventilation systems are finally repaired. Every day is different in this profession, and especially as the boss of the HVAC dealership. If friends ever say that they are unhappy with their own circumstances, I happily invite them to join the heating, cooling, and air quality control shop.
