For a long time, I sat behind a desk in a busy HVAC factory, monitoring AC products’ assembly line and packaging. One day in summer, I noticed my AC wasn’t emitting enough cold to cool my living room. I tried to troubleshoot the problem, and it worked, but a few days later, the problem persisted. Back at work, I directed a junior technician to take a look. Later I spoke to the senior manager about a position that would do a post-HVAC installation check-up to ensure every client’s air conditioner was installed correctly and in excellent working condition. I was given the green light to assign an officer, but I decided to relinquish my desk position. This was more like an HVAC serviceman demanding position but full of learning opportunities with different challenges every day. My work was to confirm that the units were installed outside and connected to ductwork, not left hanging, and each ductwork sealing correctly done. I also checked whether every hybrid HVAC system was positioned to allow for adequate airflow, out of the way, and not to produce any noise. I also ensured space was available for servicing the cooling or heating device, ac filter, or air duct. I pay special attention to the steam boiler installation, given their size and complexity. Since I started, most clients have appreciated our efforts to offer heating and cooling after-sales service and inspection. Those who have temperature control concerns with their thermostat always share their problems while I am on site. I relay this feedback to the HVAC supplier and have it checked soonest possible. This position was well received, and we have since client confidence grew in us and that’s reflected in the HVAC for sale we supply everywhere.
