I love riding my bike for a workout

For many years, I resided in the northern part of the country.

The weather was horribly cold & wet for most of the year.

The temperature often dropped below zero & sometimes dipped into the negative digits. I was tired of shoveling snow, scraping ice & wrapping up in layers against the weather. For the majority of the time, I needed to handle my daily workouts inside. Although I bought some basic equipment to create a home gym, indoor workouts get boring & repetitive. About a year ago, my husband & I decided we were done with the cold weather. We bought a lake house further south, in an area where the temperature never drops below 35 degrees. I immediately invested in a bicycle. I decked out the bicycle with a good seat, a decent sized basket on the front & holders for a water bottle & phone. I also bought a cordless speaker that straps to the handlebars. There is a bike path near the house. The path is paved and does not permit motorized vehicles. It extends over 80 miles in either direction. My favorite workout is to ride my bike along the path to an athletic field. I enjoy breathing fresh air & feeling the sun on my skin. I look for various types of birds, squirrels & turtles along the route. At the athletic field, I spend around 45 minutes stretching, running sprints, doing lunges, squats & various jumps. I keep a towel with me that I can use for ab crunches. I make certain to leave enough time to properly stretch & then I pedal the bike back home. The whole workout typically takes about 90 minutes, but I thoroughly enjoy every second of it. I always end up in a wonderful mood for the rest of the day.
