I turned on my dishwasher and I heard this really weird sound.
I swore it had to be the dishwasher, but my husband insisted it was the air conditioner.
I knew he had turned on the AC unit at the same time as I turned on the dishwasher, but I thought the sound was coming from the dishwasher. Would you believe the source of the sound caused us to get into an argument? After ten minutes, we both sat down and began to laugh. I went over to the air conditioner and put my ear as close as I could. I couldn’t hear the same squeal that I was hearing from my dishwasher. My husband said he heard a definite growl, but it wasn’t the AC. When the dishwasher broke down the next day, we were sure that was our problem. We had the repairman come to the house and fix it. He told us that the only thing he found was a clogged filter. We were still hearing the noise and now we knew it was the AC unit. My husband went to town and bought a new window AC unit. He was thrilled to think that he now had an AC unit he could take apart and check out. I knew this was going to lead to nothing but problems, but it was his toy now. Maybe the next time we hear a strange noise coming from the AC unit, he’ll be able to fix it instead of spending money on a new one. He’ll have a lot of parts since we bought the same make and model.
