I have wanted underfloor heating in my house since I was a little kid.
I used to have a school friend who’s family had underfloor heating and I loved it.
When I had a sleep-over I would be so warm and comfortable in my sleeping bag on that warm, heated floor. I used to ask for a heated floor for my birthdays and Chiristmas presents but my parents never got one installed. It wasn’t until I got older that I understood the cost and work involved in getting underfloor heating installed. Still, I swore I would live in a house with underfloor heating some day. Now I am grown, married, and have kids of my own. The house we live in is beautiful and we plan to live here for the rest of our lives. However, it does not have underfloor heating. My husband knows how much I want underfloor heating and we finally decided that we can afford it. Well, we can afford to make payments on it now anyway. The only problem is that the first contractors we hired to give an estimate told us that our floors are wrong for underfloor heating. They said it simply won’t work. I got really upset until I found another HVAC contractor who told us that they would just have to build a raised floor over our existing floor. Our ceilings are high enough for this to work and no one will know. So it will look completely normal. This is more work, and more money, but it is doable. Soon I will have the heated floors I have always wanted!
