Installing air conditioner because of daughter’s allergies

I never felt that I needed central cooling installed into my home.

I live in the northeastern part of the country.

My local area is known for our extremely long and cold winters. We frequently set records for low temperatures, wind chill and the amount of snowfall. We seem to wait forever for summer weather to arrive and it rarely lasts for very long. Because of the need to keep the house sealed up tight during the cold weather seasons and the cost of my heating bills, I was very reluctant to pay to run an air conditioner. I figured that window air conditioners and box fans were sufficient. My daughter then developed issues with allergies and asthma. Indoor air quality became a huge concern. The open windows in the spring and summer were welcoming in dust, exhaust fumes, pollen, bugs and all sorts of allergens that were compromising her quality of life. I knew I needed to make some changes. I invested into central air conditioning and a whole-house air purifier. I spent extra for a tope-of-the-line cooling system that includes an adaptable-speed compressor and achieves a 26 SEER. It doesn’t cost all that much to run yet makes a huge improvement in the cleanliness, health and enjoyment of our home. The air conditioner circulates and filters the air, trapping contaminants, combating issues with humidity and makes every room feel fresher. The air purifier kills pathogens such as bacteria, mold spores and viruses, eliminates odors and captures particles that are far smaller than a grain of salt. The air conditioner has proven to be a very worthwhile investment.
