So we sorted through and packed up all of our stuff and moved out of the family home in April.
It’s now getting on toward the end of July and man, I miss having a home.
The sorting and packing took us two solid months. I even ended up taking two weeks of my vacation from the commercial HVAC of the office to finish getting out of the house. My wife and I did a lot of projects to the house before we even put it on the market. A big one was replacing the residential HVAC. Unbelievably, the old heat pump lasted almost 30 years. So believe me, there is enormous value in consistent HVAC maintenance. For sure, we wanted to get good residential HVAC with the latest in HVAC technology. When you are looking for a place to buy in this region, the HVAC equipment is a big deal. The heating part of the equation isn’t all that important. But air conditioning is vital to living down here. The HVAC upgrade went so smoothly as the HVAC contractor and the HVAC company took care of everything in near seamless fashion. I was stunned by the evolution in HVAC technology when the HVAC professionals were done with the installation. I thoroughly enjoyed the zone controlled HVAC and the smart thermostat. We had the best air conditioning ever while we packed and sorted after the house sold for even more than we expected. That was the good news. The bad news is that we are in a rental condo with an ancient heat pump. And we still have at least 7 weeks of hot weather ahead of us.
