I live in a 3-bedroom home in a decent sub-division. The community is filled with a few ponds, lakes, as well as local parks and recreational areas. It’s a family-friendly neighborhood with a YMCA that is accessible to all residents who are members. We don’t have a gym, so the YMCA is a great alternative. Plus, the membership for the YMCA is a lot cheaper than the membership of a gym. Anyway, the neighborhood is great, and all the neighbors are close and know each other. We go to the same church, we go to the same grocery stores, we eat at the same restaurants, and we use the same landscaper, as well as HVAC provider. So, when the representative from my HVAC provider offered a service agreement to me, he mentioned that my neighbors have been signing up for the agreement as well. Personally, it doesn’t matter to me if my neighbors signed up for the service agreement, I am more concerned whether or not the agreement makes sense for me. Most service agreements offer emergency repair, labor, annual tune-ups, discount on parts, thermostat as well as ductwork inspection, and so much more. Currently, my HVAC unit is only 5 years old, and it is still functioning as efficiently as possible. I get it serviced once per year, and I always make sure that I change my filter. I don’t believe I need a service agreement because the cost of the agreement is more than what I would be spending on my yearly HVAC service. Perhaps in the future, I will consider getting an HVAC service agreement, but for now, I declined the offer from my HVAC provider.
