To see if they fix this power outage, I will put in another half-hour of remote work from home.
We don’t have any water either, which isn’t a huge deal because I just showered last night and I have plenty of drinking water.
However, all of my refrigerated food will spoil if the power is out for more than a few hours, and everything in the freezer will perish if it’s out for more than a day. Fortunately, I don’t have much in my fridge that could actually go bad because today is local contractor shopping day, so the only things that might spoil are some beans and maybe a salad I made the other day. If you don’t constantly open the door, my fridge does a good job of maintaining a cool temperature inside, which is great for preserving the freshness of your food. Now that I’m done with my work for the day, I think they’ll have power back on by the evening, and my friend and I will be fine. Since the heating contractor’s power is out as well, I will be working from home and relaxing today instead of performing my duties as an HVAC technician for them. I’m going to go to this cafe in a while to get some work done while drinking a red root Heineken, and then I’ll go home to take a nap with the cats in front of my whole-house air purifier, which doesn’t require any work at all. With the power outage lingering, I hope to find solace in the cafe as I work and enjoy a refreshing red root Heineken before returning home to a nap in the company of my cats and the soothing hum of my whole-house air purifier.
