Growing up, my parents never threw anything away.
They were raised in a time where people literally starve to death and being frugal literally save lives. Their hoarding ways must have been inherited by me because I have a lot of trouble getting rid of my belongings. When I moved south, I found a lot of items I had not used in years but I still couldn’t part with them. I packed them up and took them with me anyway, just in case I might need them. One of the items I packed up was my old window air conditioning unit. I knew my new house had central air conditioning but I just couldn’t throw away my old air conditioner. I’m glad I took it with me because about four months after I move south, the central air conditioner stopped working. It was the middle of the night and it was still very hot. I went out to my garage and found my old window air conditioning unit. Then I put it in my bedroom window and I was able to go back to sleep. That old window air conditioning unit kept my bedroom cool and comfortable. The rest of the house was still hot and humid though That’s why I called an air conditioning repair company to come out in the morning. They got the central air conditioner up and running like new again and my window air conditioning unit went back into the garage. I don’t know when I might need it again but I hope it’s not for a long time.
