I was surprised when our son said that he wanted to support the community.
Apparently, most of his friends were doing volunteer work and it made everybody think empowered and nice inside.
I ended up telling our son that he should think about going to the homeless shelter with some of his friends and see if they had any volunteer work available, which I knew they always did. I had helped at the local homeless shelters numerous times and there’s always something they need. They need food, heating, blankets, coats, shoes, you name it. They also need toys for the little 1s during Christmas because when you don’t have a task or a shelter, life is too hard to think about Christmas shopping. So they went to the homeless shelter and they gave them a list of things the people needed. Those kids went door to door and spoke to various people about donating whatever they could, canned food, coats, portable heaters, anything. They collected all kinds of goods for the homeless shelter and I was so proud of the bunch. They helped serve food at the homeless shelter too and they also raised money that would go towards the heating method service to make sure everybody was perfectly comfortable in the Wintertide months. The people there thanked our son and his friends and they said they wished there were more nice people in the world appreciate them. They all were glowing after that! They have actually been talking about doing this sort of thing every single year and maybe starting up their own charity repair for people in the community who are in need.
