Power failure leaves us without air conditioning

This past July, our local part got hit with an especially nasty storm.

There was thunder, lightning plus torrential downpours.

The high winds were the largest problem. They knocked down branches, whole trees plus power lines. Our entire part was without electricity for nearly a week. Without the benefit of the sump pump, our basement flooded. There was mangle to our washing machine, dryer, water gas furnace plus gas furnace. There were problems with mold, mildew plus bacterial growth, plus the whole home odored terribly musty. Without power, the food in the refrigerator plus the freezer spoiled. The people I was with and I were also left without air conditioning when the outside temperature was in the low nineties. Because of the rain, the two of us couldn’t even open the windows. Every room was warm plus had a sticky feeling. It was impossible to get comfortable or appreciate a wonderful night’s sleep. The people I was with and I were all moderate plus irritated, plus the two of us couldn’t shower. It was a horrible experience. The people I was with and I considered moving into a hotel, however most of the local accommodations had raised their rates plus had no vacancy. It got myself and others thinking about what would happen if the two of us experienced a power failure in the middle of winter. My local part is prone to blizzard conditions. It’s not unregular for the temperature to drop below zero with a dangerous windchill. The people I was with and I are famous for the amount of snow accumulation the two of us get. There’s no way the two of us could stay in the home without a working gas furnace. There would be a particularly serious threat of the water pipes frigid plus bursting. Because of this, I invested into a permanently-installed, standby generator. In the event of a power outage, the generator automatically starts up, takes over plus powers the entire house. It runs on natural gas plus can operate without refueling for as long as necessary. I have the peace of mind of knowing that our family will have access to heating plus cooling.
