When I first started up my a/c in the Spring, I observed a musty stink coming from the vents. I hoped that this issue was caused by standing idle for over several weeks. I should have called for professional repair right away. Because the weather heated up absolutely abruptly, there was a lot to do around the house. I was eager to get the swimming pool disinfect plus ready for the kids to use. I needed to put away the Winter time boots, coats, snow shovels plus ice scrapers. There was a superb deal of Spring cleaning to get done, including washing windows, steam cleaning the carpets plus laundering all of the linens. I forgot about the a/c. I failed to notice that it was starting up more frequently plus running for longer cycles. It wasn’t until I got my electric bill plus was shocked by the cost that I realized the cooling proposal needed some attention. I then remembered that I’d lowered the temperature control setting several times because the house felt overheated. I’d been required to vacuum plus dust more often due to the influx of air contaminants. I finally tied up repair from a licensed Heating and Air Conditioning contractor, who removed the outer cupboard plus showed myself and others the inner workings of the a/c. There was an horrifying buildup of dust, lint plus other debris on the components. There was mold thriving on the evaporator coil plus algae growing in the condensate drain. It’s surprising that the a/c was operating at all. Fortunately, a thorough cleaning of the a/c, as well as the regular repair tasks, fixed all of the complications. I have now enrolled in a repair proposal that includes a tune-up every Spring.
