We could hear the fan motor running, but for some reason, the AC unit wasn’t blowing any cool air. My husband opened the trapdoor to the inside of the AC unit. He said he could hear the motor running, but the fan wasn’t moving. I called the HVAC company and told them what was going on. I asked them to send a technician to the house. The following day, we had an HVAC technician knocking on our door. My husband took him out back, and he turned the AC unit back on, so the technician could hear the fan and see the fan blades weren’t moving. He asked me to turn off the breaker so he could get inside and do some diagnostics. An hour later, he came inside and told us our problem had been solved. He also asked if we had any antiseptic. I got out the first aid kit for him and told him to help himself. He said he had to replace the fan blades since they were bent. He had also replaced the fan motor. He told us we might think about getting a new AC unit. This one was nearly twenty years old and he said they normally only lasted about fifteen years. He said the efficiency of the AC unit would soon be waning, and changing the fan motor was just the beginning. He knew the AC would work for another year or two,, and this was just a heads up. He then told us he had been stung by a bee when he tried to get rid of the nest that had been built around the fan blades.
