Apartments and homes for rent come with their ups and downs.
Renting was great because I didn’t have to worry about lawn maintenance, nor did I have to worry about any issues with the device being maintained.
I have learned lately that the property manager often ignores these issues after you report them. There were cases when faulty air conditioners left guests without air conditioning for over a week during the summer. It was completely unfair to be at the mercy of the property management company as well as their borderline-illegal business practices. After moving into a rental apartment that was rented directly from the owner, my assumption was that somehow I would have a better experience. My responsibilities increased as a result. According to the contract, I am responsible for any and all plumbing repairs. The reason was their awareness of the home’s faulty plumbing and their complicity in covering it up. After I moved out, I had to contact a commercial cleaning company in order to have brick and grout cleaned. As well as living in that condo for years, each room’s brick grout had stains from years of use that we had failed to remove. The grout couldn’t be faded with bleach diluted with water or a mop. The commercial floor cleaning firm we hired did an amazing job cleaning the grout and got the job done in less than an hour. We were amazed to see the brick grout clean after the floor cleaners left.
