The heater turning on makes my son nervous

There are difficulties associated with residing in an older home.

If the previous owner didn’t take care of the property, there will likely need to be numerous upgrades. I actually purchased this home more than a year ago from a foreclosure auction because I only needed a place to live. After a year, I’m not sure if my friend’s recommendation to try foreclosure was the right one. It’s amazing how roomy the place is. There are 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, an attic, and an unfinished basement. There was enough room for me and my 3-year-old son. It’s certainly too big for just the two of us, but who knows? Maybe someday, if I ever meet the man of my dreams—not the scum who left us—I’ll expand this twosome to include more. Unusual noises are a part of living in an older home. My son hates the sound of the heater turning on the most, followed by the floorboards, water pipes, and one other thing. In the middle of the night, it can start, and all I hear is a child running to my bed in an attempt to climb on it and cuddle with me. My son always stops what he is doing and runs to me when the heater comes on, so I don’t really mess with the thermostat settings that much. One day, after inspecting my HVAC system, I called an HVAC technician over to see if there was anything I could do to lessen the noise. He claimed that there isn’t much I can do unless I completely replace the HVAC system. He only performed the air filter change before calling it a day. I suppose I’ll have to put up with this until my son gets here.
