My mom came home with some strange news. Apparently, my grandpa had a cottage somewhere out in the countryside, and he had left it to me. This is a place I’d heard about only once, but never thought it actually existed. Mom told me the cottage was real, but grandpa never quite let anyone go there for many years. She wasn’t sure what the story was, and she never pressed him for details. We took details from the lawyer and went to find this old place. The old house was so dilapidated, and needed so much work. But, the environment around was perfect, and immediately I knew I wanted to renovate the place. I sunk some savings and a personal loan to redo the entire cottage, and also upgrade the heating and cooling. This cottage had never had any HVAC set up for summer or winter. So, it was up to me to find the best way to heat it in winter and cool in summer. Eventually, an HVAC expert told me about ductless heat pumps that would suit the cottage. We’d have one on the ground floor and another upstairs to ensure comfort and coziness. Purchasing the pair of ductless heat pumps didn’t take long and I had the HVAC expert set them up. Now that the old house is no longer dilapidated and is livable, I have endless calls of people wanting to stay there. The location is remote, and offers amazing views, plus now there’s heating and cooling because of the ductless heat pumps. Some day I plan to install a geothermal heat pump, but that will have to be a future investment.
