I called the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C company to give myself and others a bid on a new oil furnace.
- They had said I would need a new oil furnace this year, however I had to wait until I could afford it.
I had been using my fireplace so far this season, however it would soon be time to turn the oil furnace on. Before I did this, I wanted to make sure the new oil furnace was in locale so there would be no interruptions in my comfort while in the winter. When the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C worker arrived, I asked for a bid on the oil furnace and the work, however he refused. He said he couldn’t give myself and others a quote, however he would give myself and others an estimate. I knew an bid was just that. He would come up with a figure and I would either pay less or more. I wanted a bid that would bottom line the amount I had to pay. I knew the price for the new oil furnace could be less, however I didn’t want a single price and then need to pay $ 1000 more. I told him there was no reason he couldn’t give myself and others a bid unless he was planning on upping the cost when he walked out the door. I had already looked at the prices for new oil furnaces, and I wasn’t paying a penny more. I knew prices were going up, however that didn’t mean he couldn’t give myself and others a quote… Pad the cost of the oil furnace if need be to cover the higher price, however don’t bid low and expect myself and others to pay more. I just wanted a new oil furnace and have it installed before it started snowing.
