My youngest child has been asking for a pet ferret almost as soon as he could talk… Finally the people I was with and I agreed to let him have one, and apparently one of his friends was rehoming a pet so I didn’t legitimately see a reason why our child couldn’t have it. After all, it was free, then what I should have done was ask why the ferret was being rehomed; But that didn’t occur to me at the time. So, long story short, the people I was with and I opted to go and picked up the ferret and all of the ferret gear, however I did think about ferret proofing the home and I thought I did a pretty fantastic job of it. I assume I didn’t because about an hour after bringing the ferret lake home it got into our Heating & Air Conditioning ductwork. I assume one of the vent covers was loose in the hallway and the ferret ferreted itself behind the vent cover and into the framework, however every one of us tried everything the people I was with and I could find to lure the ferret out of the ductwork system, however none of it worked. Finally the people I was with and I had to call out the Heating & Air Conditioning workers, and they had to come out and take the ductwork apart in order to extract the ferret. Afterwards, I had them make sure all of the vent covers were screwed down tightly and ferret proof. I am glad I did because they found 2 more vent covers that had gotten rather loose and one of the vent covers actually had a hole in it and needed replacing. Now I think that the Heating & Air Conditioning idea is ferret proof at least. I hope the ferret doesn’t cause any more complications anywhere else in the house.
