We got a free trip to the zoo, thanks to the HVAC tech.

My husband had the HVAC tech come to the house last May, so we could have our air conditioning unit serviced before summer arrived.

They were passing out raffle tickets to their customers who had their service done in May.

I was shocked when we won a family pass to the zoo. I don’t know if we were more excited or kids. The pass was for four adults and six kids. My sister, her husband and their two kids went along with my husband and I and our three kids. We even had passes for a free lunch at one of their restaurants. We packed up the car and headed out on a hot day in July. I guess I didn’t realize how hot it would be in the zoo. There were over 100 acres of displays and activities and our kids wanted to see everything. We were walking on the blacktop that felt like 200 degrees of heat coming through our sandaled feet. We spent more time in the buildings than looking in the caged-in areas. There was really nice air conditioning in many of the buildings. The cold-blooded animals were all behind glass, but it was fun to watch them, and nice to feel the AC. My son got to hold a snake, and we took pictures of the kids holding an alligator. My favorite was the sloth exhibition. I could definitely understand why he moved so slow, considering how hot in was in the building. We were all glad when we decided to stop for lunch. The air conditioning was amazing, and it was right across from the monkeys. It was fun to watch them beg for food while we were in the air-conditioned building.
