Mother told me I should be an actress. (feigned a faint without AC)

I had no idea my mother was so amusing until he told me last week that I should be an actress when I grow up.

She had never seen a more convincing faint than the one I faked this week, unfortunately, he saw me peep out through my lashes and knew I was just being dramatic.

My family room was eighty degrees, and I needed my air conditioning to be turned on. She refused to fall for my melodrama and told me to move on. She wasn’t changing from heat to air conditioning because I was hot. She instructed me to close the window shades and turn on the fan during the day. The room would be cooler in the evening if the windows were open. During the day, I had to close the windows and lower the shades. Mom did this to keep the condo cool during the day. I was also supposed to leave the ceiling fan on. I was certain he had the air conditioning on in his family room and downstairs, but he denied it. She claimed that I could feel the air ducts. She knew what to do because she had spent years practicing, and he refused to turn on the air conditioning because I thought I needed it. I harrumphed and stomped into the family room. For good measure, I slammed the door. I didn’t tell him I tried it, but I did open the window and turn on the fan that evening. When I got up, I closed the window and pulled down the shade. When I got home from school, my room was completely cooler.
